Getting a hearing aid

Here are some useful tips for when you get a hearing aid
It takes time to get used to a hearing aid. It may help to begin by wearing your hearing aid for short periods – even as little as 15 minutes – and then gradually building up your wearing time. In a way, it's no different than adjusting to contact lenses. Speak to you hearing care professional, who can design a schedule tailored just for you.

Many problems can be fixed easily by your hearing care professional. Simply explain the problem and they can make minor, on-the-spot adjustments. Even if you have to return the hearing aid to the manufacturer, in most cases, it will be back in your hands (and ears) within three days.

There are many different types and models of hearing aids, and it’s usually just a matter of working with your hearing care professional in order to find the right model for you.
